MARVIN

During my time at NFTS we did a puppet module with guest tutor Joe Holman.  

During this module we were given a brief on which we had to design and fabricate a stop-motion puppet for children's television.

The inspiration for my puppet came from nature and mainly mushrooms, Marvin loves the outdoors and wants to teach children all about their surroundings.

I sculpted Marvin in plasticine, using the sculpt I molded his head in silicone and cast it in fibreglass. The armature was pre-made but I altered it to fit the design.

His limbs were molded in Alchemix and cast in silicone.  

His body was made from upholstery foam and costume and accessories made from cotton, fleece and felt.
